Guest room lighting is usually specified by feel and defended by nobody. A short table of targets turns a subjective discussion into a reviewable specification, and it gives the operator something to test after handover.
The six jobs in one room
Each has a measurable target at a specific plane:

Warm and dimmable is the default
2700K to 3000K covers almost every brand standard, with uniform colour temperature across the room so that mixed sources do not produce colour shifts on skin. Every luminaire a guest can control should dim, and the dimming floor should be low enough to serve as a night light without a separate fixture.
Contrast between zones is the complaint generator
Guests do not complain about lux. They complain about a bright bathroom and a dark bedroom, or about a spotlight over the desk that makes the rest of the room feel like a cave. Keeping adjacent spaces within a factor of three or four removes most of that reaction.
Testing after handover
Measure the targets in three rooms, not one. Record the results with the room number and the date, because a lighting complaint nine months later is easier to answer with a measurement than with a memory.

Floor and table lamps give the room a residential feel and give the operator flexibility for a renovation. They also allow a room to be re-styled without touching the electrical installation, which for an older property is frequently the difference between a refresh and a project.
