What the passport actually holds
A Digital Product Passport is a data set linked to a specific model through a data carrier on the product or its packaging. It is expected to cover material composition, recycled content, repair and disassembly information, spare-part availability and the compliance documents that already sit in a technical file.
For a portable luminaire the difficult part is not the lamp body. It is the LED module, the driver and the cord set, each of which comes from a different upstream supplier with its own declaration format.
Why lighting is in the early waves
Lighting has been regulated under ecodesign rules for well over a decade, so the category is not starting from zero. That is precisely why it tends to appear near the front of the working plan rather than in the back of the queue, and why exporters should assume a shorter run-up than they would like.
