The top surface of the base has two-3/4" round holes and a nothc. Each lamp has a ball accented on/off pull chain. Available with red or white shade and matching cord. The nice clean lines, the red shade, it all looks great in my son's bedroom. I put the largest CFL bulb I could find in here and it lights up the whole room. The cord seems a little bit long inside the poles. There was some struggle to jam it all in the pole and I had to fold it in on itself and force it down. Too much slack. However, I was able to do it and it hasn't been a problem since the installation. I would purchase again, or purchase other products from the same manufacturer.
